Las Vegas Drug Possession
Possession is defined as having actual or constructive possession of a controlled substances such as:
- Cocaine
- Marijuana
- Methamphetamine
- Amphetamine
- Heroin
You can also be arrested for possession without actually having it on your person. If you have dominion and control of it you can be arrested. This is called constructive possession. If you have drug paraphernalia, any product, material, or equipment that can be used for producing, concealing, or using narcotics, you can be arrested for possession of paraphernalia.
A person can be charged with trafficking in a controlled substance depending on the quantity of the substance. The consequences for trafficking in a controlled substance is much harsher in comparison to simple possession of a narcotic. Trafficking in a Controlled Substance can carry a sentence of life in prison.
Consequences
When a person is convicted of a narcotic crime it can make it difficult to obtain employment or other positions and benefits.
